Why Climbers Delight exists

Our story

I am not a pro climber. I am someone a handful of years into the sport, still improving, who remembers exactly how confusing the start can be. Climbers Delight is the thing I wish I had back then: one clear weekly read on what is happening in climbing, plus plain guides to the parts nobody explains well. It is a one person project, made for the love of the sport and the people finding their way into it.

The problem with the feed

If you follow climbing online, you know the feeling. The best ascents, the biggest competitions and the stories that actually matter are scattered across dozens of Instagram accounts, a handful of magazines and the odd forum thread. Miss a few days and it is gone, buried under an algorithm that rewards whatever is loudest rather than whatever is worth your time.

There was no single, calm place to catch up. So instead of scrolling endlessly and still missing things, I wanted one clear weekly read that simply told me what happened.

How Climbers Delight works

Every week I scan across the climbing world, from Instagram to the media that covers the sport seriously. Then comes the real work, which is filtering. Most of what gets posted is noise, reposts and filler. What is left is the small set of ascents, competitions, gear and stories that genuinely moved the sport that week.

That handful gets written up, put in context and ordered into one focused edition. No autoplay, no infinite scroll, no notifications begging for your attention. Just one email, once a week, that respects your time.

And a friendlier way in

The newsletter keeps you in the loop, but when you are new that loop only makes sense if you understand the basics. So alongside the weekly read there is a growing set of free guides and tools, plain explainers on gear, grades and skills, a grade converter and an A to Z glossary. Nobody should feel lost because a word or a number went unexplained. I write them the way I would have wanted them explained when I started.

What makes it different

Plenty of feeds will show you climbing content. Very few will decide what is worth showing you in the first place. That editorial choice is the whole point of Climbers Delight.

Curated, not crowded

Relevant climbing news distilled from Instagram and the media, reduced to what actually matters.

Made to learn from

Free guides and tools that explain gear, grades and skills in plain English, so the news makes sense from your first read.

A climber, not an algorithm

Handpicked and written by someone still on the journey, not generated by feeds or trends.

Where it is going

Climbers Delight is still small and still a one person project, grown slowly alongside the people it is for. The aim is not to become the loudest climbing brand, it is to be the most useful companion for people getting into the sport and getting better at it. Keep the signal high, keep the noise out, keep explaining the things that trip people up, and grow it carefully. There is a lot more to come.

If that sounds like your kind of thing, the weekly newsletter is the best place to start, and the guides are a good place to learn. Thanks for being here. See you out there.
